2000 ACFC Standings

Wesley needed two overtime periods to defeat Ferrum 27-24 to win the ACFC title. Coach Mike Drass' team was invited to participate in the NCAA Division III playoffs, as the Wolverines made their first-ever first appearance.
Wesley quarterback Jason Visconti was named the Offensive Player of the Year. Tone' Dancy of Ferrum and Andrew Summers of Wesley shared the Defensive Player of the Year award. Drass was named the Coach of the Year.

Ferrum picked to win ACFC title

Ferrum, Va. – In a vote of the league's coaches, Ferrum College has been picked to win the 2000 Atlantic Central Football Conference title. The Panthers grabbed three first-place votes to finish with 31 points. Ferrum barely edged defending ACFC champion Frostburg State University, which totaled 30 points and also had three first-place votes.

Wesley College was right behind, tallying 29 points with one first-place vote. Greensboro College is fourth with 22 points, followed by Chowan College with 15 points. Methodist College and Salisbury State University rounded out the poll with 10 points and six points, respectively.

Ferrum closed out the 1999 season at 6-4 overall and tied for 2nd place in the ACFC at 4-2. Frostburg State closed at 8-3 last year, including a 5-1 mark in winning the first-ever ACFC title. Wesley went 6-4 with a 4-2 ACFC mark, tying Ferrum for second place in the league's final standings.

Greensboro, Chowan, Methodist, and Salisbury State all tied for fourth place in the league with identical 2-4 ACFC records. Chowan finished at 5-4, Greensboro 3-6, Methodist 3-7, and Salisbury State 2-7.
