Jim Butterfield Award The Jim Butterfield Award was first presented in 1997 to the Outstanding Division III football coach who announced his returement. Sponsored by USAFOOTBALL.COM, the inaugural recipient was former Central (IA) head coach Ron Schipper. In 1998, the Award was presented to retired Washington & Jefferson head coach John Luckhardt during the Lambert-Meadowlands Football Banquet. The 1999 recipient shall be announced shortly. Gagliardi Trophy The Gagliardi Trophy was first presented in 1993 to the Outstanding Division III football player of the year by Jostens and the J-Club of Saint John's University. Since that time, the award has become one of the leading collegiate football awards and is widely recognized as the premier individual award in Division III football, honoring excellence in athletics, academics and community service. Melberger Award The Downtown Wilkes-Barre Touchdown Club invites you to attend the 8th anniversary of the presentation of The Melberger Award to the outstanding Division III player of the year. The banquet will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2001. The event will be begin at 12:00 noon. Once again this year’s banquet is being held at The Ramada Plaza Hotel.
